We are now looking for a Technical Development Engineer to join our team in Caledonian, UK, on a two-year fixed-term contract with the potential to be made permanent at that time.

The Technical Development role will be involved in the Quality, Product Development and Environmental compliance areas of Paper manufacturing. Quality Assurance is an integral part of the Production Environment. As well as monitoring the quality of paper, it is involved in mill-wide process verification and legislative testing of key parameters. Within the Product Development function, the use of new Raw materials, changes to recipes and the development of new products help to maintain a cost-effective and attractive portfolio of products. Finally, Environmental performance is at the forefront of all activities and communication both internally and externally, of accurate information is critical.

What does an average week look like?

  • Actively support proactive development of current and new safety requirements of QA department
  • Assess the daily quality of mill-wide processes
  • Initiate and manage trials
  • Raise work notifications, to effect repairs (SAP)
  • Raise Purchase requests to maintain stock of key lab consumables
  • Manage and support a wide range of mill-wide management and quality systems
  • Managing lab technicians' rota and holidays
  • Support Environmental reporting requirements, via the collection and assessment of data
  • Participate in management system (ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO45001) audits
